Baker Earns Major Honor From WomensLacrosse.com

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Corinne Baker was named the Division II Coach of the Year by womenslacrosse.com.

Baker guided Merrimack to a top-10 national ranking, posting a 12-3 record in 2010, including a 9-2 conference mark, after recording an 8-8 record in 2009. Merrimack ranked in the top five in offense and seventh nationally in scoring margin while ranking second in caused turnovers.

Some key player for Coach Baker include;

Strachan was a key part of the 2010 Warriors, earning the national Unsung Hero of the Year honor. She started all 15 games, and ranked third on the team with 35 goals, while finishing second in the conference with 38 caused turnovers.

Basile, who was a first-team All-American honoree, had a team-high 47 goals and 81 points. She was also a first-team All-Region honoree by the IWLCA and a first-team All-Conference selection. She was third in the conference in points per game.

Pino earned All-American honors to the rookie team. She came off the bench in 11 games and netted 11 goals and 16 points, tops among Merrimack newcomers.

Baker becomes the third Merrimack coach this year to receive Coach of the Year honors and the second one to earn national recognition. Field Hockey head coach Anne Rounce was named the Division II womensfieldhockey.com National Coach of the year, while hockey head coach Mark Dennehy earned Hockey East Co-Coach of the Year and All-New England Coach of the Year honors.
